Canada Removes Extra CRS Points for Job Offers

· Brigitte Khayat

As of March 25, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) no longer awards extra Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points for valid job offers in Express Entry. The change applies to everyone in the pool, both new profiles and existing ones. The points that disappeared:

  • Senior management positions (NOC Major Group 00): 200 points
  • Other skilled occupations: 50 points

What it means for candidates

If you had a job offer, your CRS score just dropped, and your odds of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) drop with it. If you do not have a job offer, your score is unchanged, but the pool around you has shifted, so your relative position is better.

Who is not affected

Candidates who already received an ITA, or who already have a PR application in progress, are not affected.

A job offer can still matter for eligibility (not for scoring) under programs such as:

  • The Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • The Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Certain Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams

For that reason, keep the job offer details in your Express Entry profile. You may not get points for it anymore, but you can still need it to qualify.
